Fans at ComicCon

I was born in Caracas, Venezuela and immigrated to Dayton, Ohio when I was sixteen. I am currently a Ph.D. candidate in Rhetoric and Composition at Purdue University, where I teach film and English composition—the latter both as a regular and a service-learning course. My interests as a scholar range from gender, race and pop culture to how multimedia production, especially film and video, can be used within academia to enrich our scholarly inquiries and methodologies, as well as to increase our interaction with publics outside university settings. Both my film work and my digital projects seek to find ways to make academic ideas accessible to people who don't belong to scholarly communities but are interested in exploring complex ways of thinking.

This site aims to present my research interests, teaching methods and scholarly projects. With the sections dedicated to my film projects, I hope to not only provide an overview of the films themselves but to share stories about the filmmaking process and how to work with small-to-nonexistent budgets and limited expertise and equipment.
